Hi userkarendurocher4,

Making sure your accounts are set up the right way is the cornerstone to good bookkeeping. I'd be happy to help with this.

QuickBooks Online makes adding and editing accounts simple by following a few quick steps. In order to change an account type you can follow these steps.

  1. Go to Settings ⚙.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Locate the first account to change.
  4. From the Action column drop-down menu, select Edit.
  5. Select the new Account Type from the drop-down menu.
  6. Select the appropriate Detail Type from the drop-down list.
  7. Select Save and Close. You are prompted that changing the Account Type may affect your accounting and reporting.
  8. Select Yes in the prompt to change the account.

Before making any changes to account types I suggest reaching out to your accountant to make sure this won't have a negative impact on your books. If you don't have an accountant no need to worry, we have your back. You can go to: My Accountant>Find a pro to help to find an accountant in your area.

Hope this was able to help you get back to business.
