I have a biweekly hourly payroll. Each pay week runs from Saturday to Friday. I would like to change this to run from Sunday to Monday instead. I would also like to change the pay date.

It's nice to have you here in the QuickBooks Community, Christine.

I can share some information on how to update the pay schedule in your account.

To update the default start date on the account, go to the Payroll Settings. You can follow the steps below in your QuickBooks Online account.

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Under Payroll, choose Pay Schedules.
  3. Select Edit on the default pay schedule. Otherwise, click Create if you want a new one.
  4. Choose the date that falls on Sunday
  5. Once done click OK.

You can also do this on the employee's profile. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu then choose Employees.
  2. Click the employee name then choose Edit employee.
  3. Go to section 3: How often do you pay [Employee Name]?
  4. Select the pencil icon, and edit the schedule.
  5. Once done, press Save.

Please note that changing the settings will only affect future payroll, but not the exiting one. If you need to edit a payroll you already created, you need to delete and recreate it to update the information.

See this:

  1. Go to Employees.
  2. Under the Run payroll button, select Pay cheque list.
  3. Select the cheque to delete and click Delete.
  4. When prompted to confirm the action, select Yes or No.

If you processed a Direct Deposit transaction, you need to check the status if it's not yet offloaded. We can no longer edit a Direct Deposit transaction once it's processed.
