Question

How do I correct stat holidays in QB payroll if the pay cheque has already been paid out? The employee has the correct pay but the accrued vacation is not correct.

My client forgot to allocate Dec 25 as a stat holiday. The total paid to the employee is correct since this is only a reclassification but the accrued vacation to Dec 31 will be overstated. Can I just correct this by allocating a day in the first pay of Jan as stat holiday?

Thank you for adding a post, @nrau. I can share with you some steps on how to correct your vacation or holiday hours in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Yes, you may allocate the hours or stat holiday on the first pay of January. However, please ensure to review the posting of the paycheck or the check date as to when it will be calculated.

If it's a manual paycheque, you may also delete and recreate the transaction with the correct statutory holiday.

  1. Click on Payroll at the left pane, then select Employees.
  2. Select the Paycheque list link.
  3. Mark the transaction you want to delete.
  4. Tap Delete.

To create the payroll again, use this link as your guide: Process or run payroll.
