Hello taracarey,

Welcome to the QuickBooks Online Community! Making sure that you're entering everything into your books as it needs to be is an integral part of keeping your numbers balanced. I'm happy to point you in the right direction for taking care of your income tax refund in the program.

QuickBooks Online has a number of features you could consider for entering your income tax refund, such as a Bank Deposit or a Journal Entry. There isn't a built-in or prescribed method for entering this kind of transaction, so it's about choosing the method that best meets your needs. If you're not certain which that is, I recommend touching base with an accounting or bookkeeping professional.

While QuickBooks is geared toward making managing your books easier, it never hurts to have an accountant on your side for these kinds of situations. QuickBooks can even help you connect with an accountant! If you have someone you're already working with, you have the option to invite them on as a user through the My Accountant tab in the program. That same tab also provides the opportunity to search a database of QuickBooks-certified accountants when you use the Find a pro to help button.

All the best to you!
