How do I re-instate an employee who was laid off due to COVID?
We laid off 3 employees on March 27 (last day of work) and one of them came back on May 18. In the Edit Employee, do I change the hire date to May 18?

Great follow-up question, Diane18. You're correct in your thoughts that QuickBooks will remove the original start date. If you're hoping to track both start dates in your books, you can create a new employee profile rather than reactivating the previous one. This can once again be done from the Employee Centre. This time click New Employee.
Keep in mind that QuickBooks only lets you use a name once, so if you're setting up a second employee profile for this person, it'll mean adding a middle initial or something else to differentiate the profile. Here's what the QuickBooks Desktop warning message suggests.
I hope that helps!
Thanks Laura. I was looking around the Employee Menu to see how I could do it. When I single click an employee's name in the Employee Centre, I can add a Note so that's where I put the original hire date, laid off date, and re-hire date for future reference.
