Question

How do I set up the payroll map for accumulated bonus? Our staff accumulates bonus monthly but to be paid out when they want. How should I connect the payable account?

Payroll tax to be put on at the payout.
I.e. Staff A has regular wage of $ 2000 per a month. He also accumulated $500 bonus each for the month of Jan Feb Apr, then wants payout in Aug for $1000.

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online Payroll is a dynamic way to pay your staff with confidence.  Providing your employees with a bonus cheque, can be done seamlessly.  

 

Although you can apply the bonus to an existing paycheque, you've mentioned creating it separately, upon an employee request.

 

Here's how:

 

1. Go to Payroll, then Employees

2. Click on the ▼ dropdown menu, beside Run payroll 

3. Choose Bonus only

4. Select an option:

  • As Net pay — Take-home pay or what's left AFTER payroll withholdings are taken out.
  • As Gross pay — Total pay or what you make BEFORE payroll withholdings and applicable deductions are taken out.

5. Hit Continue

6. Enter the Pay date

7. Select the checkbox next to each employee to include in this bonus run

8. Enter the Bonus amount for each employee

9. Hit Preview payroll 

10. Review the details and select Submit payroll

11. Hit Finish payroll.
