Question

How long does it usually takes for an employee's direct deposit to be fully verified? It's been 3 days since I set up my employee's direct deposit and it's still pending.

Hi rides-arewethere,

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online Payroll is a dynamic way to ensure your staff is paid on time.  I can see how concerning it can be, when direct deposit appears to be pending.  I'd be happy to provide some insight here!

When you've completed the direct deposit set up, there may be a situation where more information is required.  In this case, an email would be sent from notify@quickbase.com, to the Principal Officer on the account.  However, if you haven't received an email, it's important to ensure you've entered the test transaction amount, that was debited from the associated bank account.  This transaction would have taken place 2-3 days from the time you setup direct deposit.  If you haven't seen the debit of less than $1.00, you'll need to re-trigger it by following these steps;

1. Open your Settings ⚙️ and select Payroll Settings

2. Select the Edit ✎ next to Bank accounts, then select Verify test transaction

3. Enter $0.01 in the boxes below and select verify 3 times. This will cause the test transaction to fail, so you can enter your banking information again

4. Return to Payroll Settings and select the  Edit ✎ next to Bank Account

5. Re-enter the correct bank account information and hit Continue to save the information

6. The  test transaction will take 3 business days to appear in your bank account

Should you require additional assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.  It would be our pleasure to work with you directly and ensure you're able to set up direct deposit as soon as  possible!  In the interim, you an run payroll as a paper cheque, then e-transfer the funds to your employee through your bank's website.
