When you no longer need a QuickBooks Online account for whatever reason, it's always a good idea to make sure that you're no longer getting charged for it. I can guide you through how to take care of this QuickBooks Online account so you don't have to worry about it any longer and can carry on with your business.

 

The way to take care of a QuickBooks Online subscription that you no longer intend to use and don't want to pay for is to cancel the subscription. Cancelling the subscription prevents the system from taking any more payments for the account and after a year being cancelled, the account will be deleted entirely for you. Here's an article that goes over how you can cancel your account: Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription

 

There's also an extra step you can take to delete some or all of your personal data, which is submitting a delete request. This can be done by following these steps.

  1. Go to accounts.intuit.com.
  2. Enter your QuickBooks Online login credentials.
  3. Choose Data Privacy from the left menu.
  4. Select Delete.
  5. Read the following page.
  6. Click Make a delete request.

When you go through this process, you'll have the option to choose which data is deleted and which you'd like to continue to use.

 

Before deleting your data, make sure to export or download any information from QuickBooks that you'd like to keep for your offline records. The accounts.intuit.com portal also includes a download option or you can use the steps here: Export Data out of QuickBooks Online
