Question

I have an employee who works more than 1 job. If she has already claimed the basic personal amount on her TD1 at her other workplace should she set it to 0 for this job?

Hi atmospherebeauty,

Welcome to Community!  It's important that your employees are set up accurately in QuickBooks Online Payroll, to keep aligned with government guidelines.  I'd be glad to provide some insight here!

The TD1 form is used to collect the appropriate tax amounts from each working individual.  It enables the CRA to accurately estimate the amount of tax a person will owe at the end of the fiscal year and incrementally pull it from each paycheque.  The CRA will take the information and calculate what percentage of overall income is owing in tax.  The CRA will refund any excess collected upon assessment of a filed tax return.  I suggest reaching out to an accounting professional for their expertise and best course of action, prior to making any changes to the TD1 form.  If you don't have an accountant, we can help you locate a ProAdvisor in your local area.

Feel free to reach back out if you have any other questions.  We'd be happy to help!
