Question

I have been disconnected from QB call centre 3 times now and no answer. I am printing the employee T4 and notice that box 54 is not filled in. How can I fix this?

Hi userkaren-bingham.

Providing the best customer service to our customers is always our primary goal but it seems we missed the mark with this. Getting your T4 to show all the appropriate information is crucial to make sure everything is correct before sending it to the CRA. I'd be happy to help go over box 54 with you.

Box 54 is your 15-character account number that you use to send your employees' deductions. This account number should not appear on the two copies of the T4 slip that you give to your employees. In order to see Box 54 filled you'll need to make sure you're looking at the Employer copy of T4 slip which would be the option near the top of the page. If you're looking at any of the other T4 options this box will not have any information in it.

If you are looking at the Employer copy of T4 slip and you're still not seeing it I suggest making sure its entered properly in your company information page by following these steps:

  1. Select Settings then Payroll Settings.
  2. Select Federal Taxes on the Preferences page.
  3. On the Company Federal Tax Information page enter your CRA-assigned CRA Payroll Number and T4 Transmitter Number.
  4. Select OK.

Should box 54 still not have any information in it I recommend clearing your cache and cookies and try opening QuickBooks Online in a private browser such as Google Chromes Incognito mode.

If you have any questions let us know and we'd be happy to help.
