Hello,

Removing a tax code that you no longer need access to in your QuickBooks Online account is a good idea. That way, you don't have to worry about selecting it by mistake. I'd be happy to list the steps on how to deactivate a tax in QuickBooks Online.

To make a tax code inactive, follow these steps:

1. Click the Taxes tab on the left navigation menu.

2. If you're also using Payroll, ensure you're toggled over to Sales Tax on the top menu.

3. Click Manage Sales Tax.

4. Locate the Tax Agency of the code you're trying to remove.

5. Next to the tax code, click Make Inactive

6. Click Done

If you're noticing the tax code is still appearing in your account, try clearing your cache and cookies in your browser. These are the stored Internet files that can build up over time and cause bugs in QuickBooks Online. Here are the steps on how to do it: How do I clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files?

If the issue persists, try using a different browser all together.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Have a great day!
