Question

I need to change a timesheet entry that is more than one year old. However, QB Online will only go back one year. Can this setting be changed?

Hey petezuzek,

It's great to see that you've been using the time tracking capabilities available in QuickBooks Online for such a long time period. Time activities are a powerful feature that allow you to easily keep track of what your employees are doing, as well as the total hours spent on a particular job. Integrating this with QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll, or the incredible options for billable time. As a precaution, weekly timesheets can only go so far back, but you can easily create and edit prior periods at any time. I can show you how.

Something you may already know is that Single Time Activities impose no restrictions on the date you can select. This is because each time activity is considered an individual transaction (whereas weekly timesheets will display everything that happened in a given week), so there's no risk of accidentally causing errors in a previous period. Weekly Timesheets simply provide a more efficient way to record and keep track of all these individual activities in a given week. You can easily open any of these time activities in just a couple of quick steps:

  1. Head to the Reports tab from the left menu bar.
  2. Scroll down to the Payroll section and/or search for the Time Activities by Employee Detail report.
  3. Enter the required Time Activity Date range then click Run Report

By default this is grouped by Employee, making it simple to find a specific time activity that you can edit. Feel free to edit or filter the report as needed.

I'm confident you'll be an expert in no time, but let me know if there's anything else I can assist you with.
