I need to change my tax rate. When I was setting it up I didn’t add any rate and I saved it. Now it just says it’s already been set

Sometimes it's necessary to change your tax rate and I'll be happy to show you how. QuickBooks is an easy-to-use program which offers a variety of amazing features that simplify your work. 

 

First, you'd need to make the unwanted tax code inactive by following the steps below:

  1. From the left menu, select Taxes.
  2. Select Manage sales tax.
  3. From the Tax agencies tab, select Make active or Make inactive beside the tax rate you want to change.
  4. Select Done.

Note: Changes to the tax rate will apply to any future transactions you add it to. If you need to change the tax rate for an existing transaction, open that transaction and edit the rate manually.

 

Once you've done this, proceed with creating the correct tax code by following the steps in this article: How to set up a new sales tax code.
