Hi zstrategics-gmai,

Thanks for reaching out to us here. I can understand the concern when direct deposit isn't applied as expected. I would be glad to provide some insight here!

It's essential to ensure you've completed all of the steps to set up direct deposit, including verifying the test transaction.  Once completed, you will need to submit your payroll information to Intuit before 5:00 PM (PT) at least 2 banking days before the pay date. However, this will depend on the lead time indicated on your payroll terms, as times vary between two to five days.

If the direct deposit steps have not been completed, you will only see the option to pay your staff with a paper cheque when processing payroll.  Due to your current situation, you will need to e-transfer the funds to your employees, so they receive their pay on the scheduled pay date.

Should you have additional questions or concerns, I encourage you to contact our QuickBooks Online Payroll specialists, outside of Community. They will be able to work with you in real-time and look further into your situation in more depth, and provide the best course of action to ensure direct deposit is activated for the next pay period.

Feel free to reach out again, if you have other questions. We would be glad to help!
