I removed an accountant email from my QBO Canada over 12 months ago. I just noticed that their email is in the cc for payroll notification emails. Can I fix this??

Emails are sent from QuickBooks Online Payroll to my admin email, as well as an accountant email who no longer has access to our account. Their firm is not listed under the "Accounting Firms" in my "Manage Users" section, nor are they set as a user. I have no idea how they are still receiving payroll notifications by email.

I appreciate how making sure only the correct people are receiving information about your company is vital for both you, and in this case, your employees. It's good you've already taken the steps to ensure the accountant was removed from having user access in your QuickBooks Online, and I can show you where their email might still be showing up connected to payroll.

 

When you work with Payroll in QuickBooks Online, the Payroll Settings area is where a good deal of the configuration is handled, and it's there I'd like to start with checking on this. Here are the steps you can take.

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Payroll Settings.
  3. Select Contact Information under the Business Information header.
  4. Verify the email and other information entered for the Primary Contact.
  5. Change this information as needed.
  6. Click OK to save.

If it was set to your old accountant's email, changing it here should do the trick. If that's not set to your old accountant's email, however, or changing it doesn't stop them from being CCed on payroll emails, you can also check your Company settings under Account and settings (through the Gear icon) just to make sure there are no lingering instances of the email there either.
