I wish to re-hire an employee released last year. Do I create a new employee or change inactive to active and change last hire date and erase release date?

Would I lose the original hire and release dates?

I woul simply reactivate them, and yes, this means replacing the original hire date if you need to track the rehire date, instead. But this is only in QB. Your real files can track everything.
