If I subscribe to payroll and stop using it for one or more months, am I charged the $20 anyways, just not the $4 per employee?

Client is paying monthly and will start payroll soon, but payroll may not be consistently or monthly

The payroll module is a monthly subscription and this means that you'll be paying the $20/month regardless you use the payroll or not. This pricing model is similar to your regular QuickBooks subscription as you still get charged since you've signed up for a monthly subscription.  You can learn more about the payroll module using this link here

We have no more employees as of January 2023. How to stop payroll subscription?

Thanks for joining us here.  QuickBooks Online Payroll understands that things happen and action needs to be taken accordingly.  You can cancel your payroll subscription directly within your QuickBooks product.  I'd be glad to help!

 

Prior to cancelling QuickBooks Online Payroll, it's important to note that you'll have 'read only' access, for one year from the cancellation date and you can re-subscribe within the one year window, to pick up where you left off.  

 

Here's how to cancel QuickBooks Online Payroll; 

 

1. Log into your account as the Primary Admin

2. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Account and settings

3. Open Billing & subscription

4. In the Payroll section, hit Cancel

5. Select Continue and complete the short survey, then select Cancel Payroll Service.
