July 3 Holiday and paycheck date

Our normal weekly Payday is Friday. I was required to send Direct Deposit checks dated for July 2, 2020. What date do I use for employees that receive Paper Paychecks ? July 2, 2020 so all checks are dated the same or do I follow the normal Friday payday and date them July 3, 2020?

Ultimately, the difference you're talking about isn't really material since it will fall in the same accounting period.  If the choice were between June 30 and July 1 it might be a different story.

Do you have any guidance from your employer on this issue; lacking that, maybe ask, or proceed with what makes sense to you keeping track of the books.
