Question

My business number on my corporate documents is a 9 digit number. When I try to register to online payment QB demands 9 digits + 2 letters + 4 digits. What is this?

Hi hello-roamingcam,

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online Payments is a great way to provide the option for your customers to pay their account directly from their invoice.  I'd be happy to provide more information, so you can complete the set up process in a timely fashion!

Your business number is provided by the Canada Revenue Agency based on your account requirements.  With an incorporated business, you may require a business number that interacts with other federal, provincial and municipal governments in Canada.  The CRA account number consists of three areas;

  • The 9-digit number identifies the business
  • The 2-letters identify the CRA program account
  • A 4-digit reference number is used to identify an individual CRA program account.
