Question

Payroll came out of an account that was closed. How come employees still received money. and no money came out of our new account.

You always need to ensure that you keep the payroll direct deposit information on file as up-to-date as possible. When you change bank accounts, it's crucial that you're updating your new bank account information in the correct places within QuickBooks Online so that your employees can be paid from the correct account. Let me walk through the easy process of editing your bank information for the account that's direct deposit is paid from in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

 

  1. Navigate to the Payroll menu, then Employees.
  2. Click on an employee to edit their profile and hit the Edit pencil for the Pay section.
  3. Locate the question that reads "How do you want to pay Employee?" and use the Edit pencil to change the response.
  4. Choose to Edit Company Direct Deposit Info and make the necessary changes to your account information.
  5. Hit OK when finished.
