Pre tax deductions for support payment

I have an employee who pays spousal support.  This amount is supposed to be added pre-tax but I cannot find a way to set this up.  Has anyone else found a solution?

It's vital that all your payroll information be entered correctly so that your pay runs can be accurate. QuickBooks Online Payroll is a great tool able to help you pay your employees based on the hours they worked for your company. I can point you in the right direction for assistance with adding deductions.

 

In order to add a deduction to an employee. You can follow the steps in the linked article. For help in which deduction type to choose to best represent this spousal support on your pay, I recommend speaking to the QuickBooks Online support team outside of the Community. They'll be able to provide information on the available deduction types so you can best make the decision of which one to use. you can reach them using one of these options:

 

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
