QBO Payroll P&L month

We have just switched to QBO for our payroll. We use accrual accounting. Our pay periods are bi-monthly. We just paid our employees for the first time with QBO; the pay period was December 16-31, 2021. However, when I look at our P&L for December the pay is not there; I found it in the January P&L. How do I change this pay to reflect the December P&L?

Hi Ad40.

Having your payroll show in the correct Profit and Loss time period is imperative when viewing your financial information. I'd be happy to help you with how to get this done in your account.

When running payroll the date you pay your employees would be the date your payroll would show in your profit and loss. Since you're paying them in January that's when the money is coming out of your account and when it'd show in the profit and loss report. If you wish to change this you'd need to change the pay date but that is not recommended as it can cause issues with your reconciliations.

If you have any questions let us know and we'd be happy to help.
