Reallocating previous pay amounts to a new pay type - how to?

I've created a new pay type for reporting and tracking purposes. We've already run two payrolls. Is there any way to go back and re-allocate hours to the new pay type on processed payroll? The actual pay isn't changing just the type that I sort it under.

Hello kflynnstronach,

Making sure that your books are organized the way you'd like them to be is key, and I appreciate you reaching out to see how it can be done in QuickBooks Online Payroll. When it comes to using the Payroll module and making changes, there are a few things to consider, and I'd be happy to highlight them below to make sure that you can get on the right track with correcting this.

When you want to make corrections to your pay runs, it's important to consider things like how many pay runs need correction, how many paycheques are in those pay runs, what pay periods they fall under, and whether you used the direct deposit feature. The consideration of direct deposit is perhaps the most important since there are extra steps to take when making corrections to those kinds of pay runs that require the help of our technical support team since actual money movement in the software was involved.

To make sure that you have the right steps to move forward with this, I recommend contacting our support team outside of this community forum so that you can have a one-on-one conversation about your situation with us. There are a few ways to get in touch, so feel free to choose the best one that works for you.

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right in QuickBooks Online > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.

Social MediaFacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
Support hours are from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.

I hope you have a great week!
