Accidentally merge the direct deposit payable account to a bank account. I think you can't undo the merge so how to recreate a deleted direct deposit payroll liability account and put back the payroll in that account- it is done automatically by QBO.

Hi, Kisha. Let me share with you some information about merging and recreating accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can merge accounts in QBO once they have the same account type, detail type, and name. If the direct deposit payable account is changed to a bank account type and was merged to another bank account, then yes, you won't be able to undo the process at all. However, you can always create a new liability account following these steps:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks.
  2. Go to the Gear icon, then click on Chart of Accounts.
  3. Hit New to add a new account.
  4. Fill in the information, then click on Save and Close.

Once done, you can use this account when setting up your payroll or direct deposit preferences.

For more tips about merging and managing your accounts in QBO, you can open these links:

Additionally, you can get more resources while processing your direct deposit payroll from this article: How to set up payroll direct deposit.

If you have any other questions about recreating an account through the Chart of Accounts, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm more than happy to help. Have a good one!
