Removal of Payroll from QB Desktop

In the "What's New/changes" post accompanying a recent update, one of the items mentioned was preparing QB Desktop for the removal of the payroll function and its eventual transfer to an online version only. I noticed this was from the UK QB site. The discussion was that it was a mandatory change. Is anything like this being proposed for Canada/North America?

Thanks for reaching out about this! We're always excited to share release notes with our customers to let you know what's up and coming with QuickBooks Desktop. I know it's important to make sure that you're receiving the information that applies to your version of the product and I'll help you sort this out.

 

It seems there may have been a mix of information that was sent out to our customers, which is something that's already been reported back to the team to ensure clarity in what's going on. As you've noted, there's a discontinuation of the Payroll service for UK customers, but there has been no word of this for Canadian products at this time.
