Question

Should I print cheques for the month if direct deposit was still pending on the pay date?

We set the pay date and when the pay date came the direct deposit status was still pending: we had not confirmed the test transaction. Does that mean this first month is not going to be direct deposited or should we wait?

Hello cole-bangia,

Great question! Confirming these kinds of details before moving forward is a good idea so that you're not doubling your transactions or double-paying your employees. I'm happy to go over your options.

In this case, since the direct deposit set up is still pending, the system won't process the direct deposit for this pay run. To make sure your employees are paid on time, I recommend paying them by paper cheque or some other means.

Once you've completely set up direct deposit, the pending status will be removed and you'll be good to go with running payroll using it. Any pay run done while it was pending won't be processed for direct deposit, so you don't have to worry about that.
