Hello,

A T4, or Statement of Remuneration Paid, is an information slip prepared to tell your employee and the CRA how much employment income they were paid during the tax year, and the amount of income tax that was deducted. I know how important it is for you to ensure your T4 is showing all the necessary information. I'll explain why you're not explicitly seeing provincial tax on your employee's T4.

When you look at the employee's year-to-date information, you'll see their total income tax amount. You can check this by looking at the latest pay cheque they received. Now, when you look at the employee's T4, this amount should also appear on Line 22

Line 22 shows "Income Tax Deducted", but it doesn't specify that this amount is a combination of both your provincial and federal taxes.

If you want to do a deeper dive into the information presented on your employee's T4, I recommend reaching out to an accountant for further assistance. These people are the best equipped to help you understand the information on your T4. If you're not yet connected to an accountant, you can find one in your area here: Find an accountant

If you still have questions, or if you'd like to clarify what you're seeing on the T4, you can reach out to our tech support team

Have a great day.
