Question

TD1 amount didn't get updated, stayed at CUSTOM AMOUNT. How to fix it?

The TD1 amount didn't get updated to the new amount when the new tax table released. It state CUSTOM AMOUNT ($10,382.00) on the Suggested TD1 column when I review TD1 list. I called QB Support and got advised that someone might manually changed TD1 in the past, so I have to manually change it moving forward.

Also, when I add a new employee, I didn't manually change TD1 amount but the amount automatically states CUSTOM AMOUNT and stayed at $10,382.00. The support team couldn't explain this issue.

Is there anywhere on the company file that TD1 amount was set for the whole company that I can just manually change ONCE for all employees?

Hi 560105,

Thanks for reaching out to us here.  Welcome!  QuickBooks Desktop provides payroll updates to ensure accurate rates and calculations.  I'd be glad to help!

Follow these steps to see which version you currently have;

Open the Employees menu and choose My Payroll Service, then Tax Table Information, to see which version you have.  The current version is 11932003 in QuickBooks Desktop 2023, and 11933003 for QuickBooks Desktop 2024.  Click here if you need to update the payroll tax table.

If you need to manually correct the TD1 information for your employees, here's how;

1. In the Employee Centre under the Employees menu, right-click on the employee

2. Select Edit Employee

3. Click on Payroll Info from the left menu

4. Choose Taxes and TD1

5. Enter the correct amount in the Federal TD1 field

6. Hit OK to save.

Please don't hesitate to contact our QuickBooks Desktop support team, if you require additional assistance.

Feel free to reach back out with other questions.  We would be happy to assist!

Hi,

Thank you for your response. I checked the Tax Table, the version is 11934003 (not 11933003 as indicated in your answer. I have just updated the tax table on Dec 29. Would you please confirm that I have the correct version?

Also, I try to not have to manually update TD1 amount (because we are staffing agency and we have almost 2000 employee files). Is there any other way for bulk update everyone's TD1 amount to the correct amount at one shot, instead of go into individual employee file to update TD1 one by one.

TD1s not updating correctly have been an issue since at least 2015.  Why has Quickbooks not fixed this??

This is a bug in QB.  I have spent hours on other bugs within QB (I have been using QB for more than a decade) and am pretty sick of spending my time doing QB programmers' jobs.  Canada is not a market QB cares about and it shows.
