Hi sunburytowing,

I'm glad to hear that you have a returning employee.  That's great news!  QuickBooks Online is flexible with these types of situations so you can edit their previous information and set a new hire date without having to start over.  I'd be happy to help!

To locate the employee from your payroll history, follow these steps:

From the left menu, open Payroll

Go to the Employees tab

Click on the drop-down arrow on the Active Employees button and select Inactive Employees

Select the employee and then hit the Edit icon next to Employment

Change their Status to Active

Enter the Hire Date and any other required fields

When you're finished, hit Done

You've successfully re-hired your employee and you can continue to edit or update any other information by selecting the Edit icon beside Pay on their employee profile.  You're ready to run payroll!

If there's anything else we can help you with, please feel free to reach back out.  We've got you!
