Question

We paid payroll taxes for 2019 in May 2020 via the payroll Tax module, dated May 2020. Why don't they show up on the reconciliation, or reduce payroll liabilities?

Hello debvon,

The Payroll Tax module is one of the most important modules offered in QuickBooks. I'm glad you're taking advantage of the features in QuickBooks Online as they help you streamline your work with ease. I'd be glad to assist you with figuring out why the payroll tax payments for 2019 aren't showing up on the Reconciliation report.

Based on what you've described, I recommend checking your payroll settings and make sure you're using the correct accounts for your payroll. This ensures that your payroll accounts are mapped correctly allowing you to identify the, easily on your reports. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Select the Accounting link under Preferences.
  3. Verify if you're using the correct bank account (see the screenshot below).
  4. Update if needed.
  5. Click OK.

I also suggest double-checking the dates on your report and ensure that they're matching the dates you're looking for.
