Question

We've entered the wrong Workers Compensation rate for some employees. Is there a way to retroactively adjust the related "Employer Taxes" field on previous paycheques?

Note that we are using direct deposit.

Hi there, @12gags

You have multiple ways of adjusting the employer's taxes for your previous paycheques. I'm here to share with you how.

First, enter the correct worker's compensation rate for your employees. Once done, delete direct deposit paycheques, then recreate them manually (manual cheques) to correct the tax calculation. Please know that this is only for recording purposes and you don't need to issue the cheques to your employees.

Another option is to calculate the difference from the old employer tax amount to the new one. This way, you can create a non-taxable addition or deduction item depending on whether the amount increases or decreases. Then, apply it to your future paycheques. You can add the item to each of your employee's records:

  1. Click on Payroll at the left pane, then select Employees.
  2. Tap on the employee's name.
  3. Click on the pencil icon beside Pay.
  4. Set up an addition or deduction item from there.
  5. Follow the on-screen pop-ups to complete the process.
