When I run payroll paid by cheque, is QBO using a Salaries/Wages Payable account? How is it balancing the amount that comes out of the account for pay?

It's good to know which account your payroll is affecting so you can accurately keep track of your funds. I'll be glad to steer you in the right direction. QuickBooks Online makes it easy to check which account your payroll is hitting. To do this:

1. Click the Gear icon

2. Navigate to Payroll Settings

3. Under Preferences, click Accounting

4. From this screen you'll see how your account are mapped in QuickBooks

5. If you need to make edits, this would be the right place to do it
