Hi KORA,

It sounds to me like you're looking to get to know how QuickBooks Online Payroll handles direct deposit, which is a great first step to take before making the switch from any services you might currently be using. I'd be happy to explain the options for our Payroll add-on so that you can decide if this is a good fit for your business needs.

QuickBooks Online Payroll's direct deposit option works similarly to what you've described, but there are key differences to take note of. The direct deposit process in this situation works as follows: Intuit pays your employees on your behalf, then debits the amount from your account to cover what was paid to the employees. This way, you can always be certain your employees get paid, even if something like non-sufficient funds occurs. I've got a few articles that are good to keep on hand about payroll direct deposit.

The other big difference is that QuickBooks Online Payroll allows you to track and log payroll tax payments, but the payments themselves are made outside of the program by you rather than by us on your behalf. I suggest reading through the Payroll taxes and forms article to learn more about how that works.

If you'd like to take a deeper dive into the options available, check out our QuickBooks Online Payroll help article hub. I'll leave you with these items to start, but don't hesitate to ask more questions if any come up. It's important to me that you can make an informed decision.

Take care!
