Question

When my employees cheque is direct deposited it just says Pay Payroll Payroll on their bank statement. I'd like it to say Pay (company name). Can I set this up somehow?

Hello -allterior-ca,

Having a clear sense of where funds are coming from is important for anyone and I can appreciate wanting payroll to show as your business name on statements so that your employees know you've paid them. It's great that you've configured direct deposit with one of QuickBooks Online's Payroll services, and I'd be happy to show you how to get this sorted out.

Although the direct deposit is configured through QuickBooks Online, the program doesn't control the payroll posting's description on a banking statement. Because of the direct deposit process where Intuit pays your employees and then pulls funds from your bank account, the description won't indicate your business name and may appear in a number of ways depending on the employee bank provider.

Some banks use the kind of description you've mentioned here, so it would be up to your employee to contact their bank to see if there's a way that they can change that so it's clearer that the payroll is coming from your business.
