Where are all the DETAILED payroll set-up instructions for QB Desktop Premier?

I have spent 4 hours on the phone with QB support and still don't have my payroll set up properly.  This is nuts...I'm a CPA with over 20 years experience so it's not like I don't know what I'm doing...I just can't figure out how to do it in this program.  All the instructions I find are for QB on-line, not QB Desktop.

Thanks for reaching out about this. It's awesome to hear that you know your way around payroll, and it makes sense to just need to get the hang of it in QuickBooks Desktop. Working with our support team is a good place to start, and having documentation to work with as well can be a big help. I'd be happy to go over this.

 

The QuickBooks Community forum has a number of useful articles for working with all versions of QuickBooks, and QuickBooks Desktop in particular has an extra help centre that you can take advantage of for working in the program. QuickBooks Desktop comes with a built-in set of help articles that you can find by following these steps.

  1. Select the Help menu in the uppermost menu bar.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click the Help tab, then Search.
  4. Use keywords like "set up payroll" in the search bar and hit Enter on your keyboard.
  5. Select the topic article to learn more.

This ensures that you have steps for QuickBooks Desktop right at your fingertips, and you can find information about setting up payroll, setting up deductions, setting preferences, and more. Give those a read through and feel free to ask more questions here in the QuickBooks Community if you have them.
