Question

Why do you have to enter number of hours under the stat holiday pay column? I need to enter a percentage here but am unable.

Hi there usermaddessconstruct,

This is a great question, and I can appreciate wanting to have a sense of how a product like QuickBooks Online Payroll handles certain information so that you can move forward with your work. I'm here to help and can go over stat holiday pay in QuickBooks Online.

As you've noticed, the program wants you to insert the stat holiday pay in the number of hours rather than input a percentage into that field. At this time, the program is designed to work this way and there isn't a way to change it so that it's a percentage instead. In this situation, what you'd do is work out the calculation of the amount earned by the employee, and then convert that into hours to insert into the field. You can learn more about stat holiday pay here: How to add statutory holiday pay as a pay type
