Question

Why does the overtime rate always show as triple the hourly pay rate? I shouldn't have to change the overtime rate for each employee every time I do payroll.

Hi MG-2021,

 

Thanks for connecting with us here.  It's vital that you're QuickBooks Online Payroll for overtime hours is calculated accurately.  I'll be happy to help!

 

I recommend reviewing the employee set up by following these steps;

 

1. Click on Settings ⚙ in the top right and select Payroll settings

2. Open Employees

3. Select the employee Name and then hit Edit employee

4. Scroll down to the section for How much do you pay [employee name]

5. Open the Edit ✎

6. In the Common pay types section, uncheck the box next to Double overtime

7. Hit Save when done

Repeat these steps for other employees as you feel necessary.
