Question

Why is Boxing Day observed based on QBO headquarter, it doesn't apply to all provinces? Stat holidays should be based on where the client is from not where QBO is located

Hello delete1,

Welcome back. I see you're hard at work in QuickBooks Online today, and I'm glad to have you with us as a member of the QuickBooks family. At Intuit, we know that there are certain holidays that only apply to certain provinces, and our goal is to make sure you're only working with the information that applies to your business. I can help you with this.

I suspect you may be working in Payroll and wondering about stat holiday pay via that module. With the Stat Holiday payroll item, it's easy to add the holiday calculations to your pay runs only when you need them. All it takes is filling out the field during the pay run with the appropriate hours and then the program will add that to the pay run. Here are a couple of articles about this.

If the company you're working with didn't observe Boxing Day as a stat holiday, you don't need to include it in the pay run. Here's our article about running payroll if you'd like it: How to create paycheques for all employees

If you're working with a third-party payroll system like Wagepoint, I recommend reaching out to that service's support team to learn about any settings that might need to be toggled regarding Stat Holidays.

We're geared toward having QBO as customizable as possible to account for things like stat holidays only when they apply to a business. If I've missed the mark with what your concern is, please don't hesitate to share more detail about where you're working in the program that's asking you about Boxing Day when you feel it shouldn't.

I'm here to help!
