Question

Why is the sample paycheck now missing in Employee Details? I need this to run payroll. It's missing in both QuickBooks Online and the Desktop version.

Hello carolyn_houlahan,

Thanks for reaching out about this. Although you've mentioned both QuickBooks Online and the desktop version, I have a feeling you mean you're also using the QuickBooks Online app for Windows or Mac. It's a great shortcut to accessing QuickBooks Online without logging into a browser and it's a good troubleshooting step to check both platforms as you have. I'll help you with this.

QuickBooks Online recently updated the way the employee setup looks in QuickBooks Online's Standard payroll service. Previously, there was a sample cheque to the side that would change and display information as you made changes to the employee's details. I can absolutely appreciate how this would be a useful tool and give you a sense of what you're working with before actually running payroll.

The sample cheque was removed as a part of the update made to the module. Since it's something you found helpful to your payroll process, I recommend leaving feedback for our product development team about it. Doing so is a great way to let us know what you're looking for in the program. Here's how: How do I submit feedback?
