Hello, Jill.

I'd be glad to guide you on how to change the opening balance for your credit card account.

You'll want to open your credit card account's register and edit the Opening Balance Equity entry. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to your Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate your credit card account, then click Account history.
  3. Search and select the opening balance entry.
  4. Edit the amount, then click Save.

Since this changes the balances of your account, I would recommend asking guidance from an accountant before doing this. They'll ensure you'll be able to apply the corrections and reconcile your account properly.
