Question

Can I pull 2019 expenses? month-wise when we are in 2021? Before giving access to our company accountant I wanted to review my expense entries.

Hi Umme,

It's awesome to hear that you'll be working with an accountant in your QuickBooks Online account. Having a professional on your side is the perfect way to ensure that your books remain in balance and that you don't have any issues in your numbers. I'd be happy to go over how you can review your expenses in QuickBooks Online so you're good to go for when you bring the accountant on board.

There are a few ways to review your expense details in QuickBooks Online, such as through the Expenses tab or using reports. The main Expenses section in the expenses tab shows you the Last 365 days by default, but you can use the Filter option to customize the date range that's showing on your screen. You can also view the transactions under individual supplier profiles by clicking the Supplies tab.

To view reports of your expenses for a more organized look, visit the Reports tab and then consider a report like Transaction List by Supplier. With this report, you can customize it to show the date range you'd like and even the transaction type you'd like if you're hoping to see only expenses and not bills. Here are a couple of articles that you can reference for customizing and seeing what reports are available in your version of QuickBooks Online.

Give those a try and let me know how it goes. I want to make sure you're good to go with viewing your expenses!
