Question

Expense Tax does not match what it says on the Receipt Supplied

Hello!

When I enter an expense (for example lets say a team member purchased materials at home depot) the HST in QBO when entering the expense does not match the HST on the receipt I am supplied with.

Any reason for this? It's not always but its a pain enough that it makes my transactions not match and if I don't catch it I have trouble going back.

Hi AJohnson7,

Welcome to Community!  It's important that your sales tax is calculated and recorded accurately in QuickBooks Online.  Having a difference in HST on your forms can be concerning.  I'd be glad to help!

To ensure your sales tax is accurate, I suggest reviewing how the HST has been setup.  You can check the sales tax rates by going to Taxes > Sales Tax > Manage Sales Tax.  Although you can't edit a current sales tax rate, you can set up a new sales tax code.  If the issue persists, I recommend contacting us outside of Community for further review and possible investigation from our end.

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?) Help in the upper right in QuickBooks Online > enter "Contact support" > hit Contact Us > provide a brief summary of your situation > hit Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
