Hey civicaire04,

Customizing forms is a crucial part to using QuickBooks Online. Cheques hold a particular importance if you print them, as the fields need to line up. Custom form styles are currently focused on sales forms, so modifying how cheques appear is handled somewhat differently. Most customization options for cheques pertain to how they are printed.

How to Align Supplier Cheques

You can align supplier cheques in just a few easy steps. Make sure you load your printer with plain paper before starting:

  1. Select the + New button.
  2. Select Print Cheques.
  3. At the bottom of the page, select Print setup.

The system will guide you through the rest until your cheques are aligned. Here's a handy article with some extra information about the various steps: Align how your cheques print

How to Align Pay Cheques

Pay cheques are set up in payroll settings, but the process is equally simple:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, then select Payroll Settings.
  2. In the Preferences section, select Pay cheque Printing.
  3. Select Preprinted QuickBooks-compatible voucher cheque stock.
  4. Select Print 2 stubs or Print 1 stub, then OK.
  5. To start aligning the cheques, select Open Alignment Window.
  6. A PDF opens with a sample check to print. Follow the instructions in the PDF and then close it.
  7. Select Align Cheques.
  8. Print, then close the PDF that opens.
  9. Follow the instructions then enter the best fit number and letter.
  10. Select Update Settings and OK.
