Question

I bought all my business equipment last year 2019. I was still employed then. In the beginning of 2020 I started working as a contracter and earning from same business. Do I wait to file in 2021 the new business start up expenses? or Do I file them n

Hello iverolynmurray,

Thanks for being a part of the QuickBooks family! It's exciting to hear that you've been able to shift from being a self-employed worker to a contractor. It sounds to me like business is growing, and I know how important it is to make sure you file correctly during this transition period.

For that reason, I recommend you speak with an accountant or bookkeeping professional, or potentially even the Canada Revenue Agency. Each of these parties is uniquely trained to help you navigate this situation in a way that I, as tech support for QuickBooks, am not. I want to make sure you get this right so you can have peace of mind with your books.

I hope that helps. Best of luck with your work!
