Question

In the process of setting up a new company. I did not have a bank account and paid for registration, GST, licences personally, how do I enter this in order to get refund?

Hello c-sabanis,

Welcome to the QuickBooks family! Setting up a new account to facilitate the management of your business's books is an exciting time, and I'm thrilled to hear that you've chose QuickBooks. There are a number of great resources, such as this very community, to help you with navigating the setup of your account and entering transactions. When you can't find the answers here, there are still other ways to get the assistance you need. I'll point you in the right direction.

There are some transactions that are pretty straightforward to enter, such as entering a sales receipt when a customer purchases something from you and pays right away. Other things can be a bit more complicated and have a number of variables to consider. It sounds like your situation might fall into the second category since it sounds like you're hoping to record something in a way that will earn you a refund down the line, potentially from the government.

While we do have the Mixing business and personal funds article, I recommend touching base with an accountant or bookkeeper to determine the best way to enter this into your books if you're not sure. If you can connect with one who knows QuickBooks, that's even better. QuickBooks can help you find such a person with the Find a pro to help button in the My Accountant tab from the program's left menu.

If you're already working with an accountant, feel free to invite them on as a user on your account. That tab I just mentioned also has a field where you can invite your accountant via email. It's a great way for them to connect with your books with the tools they need to help you manage them.

That should get you started down the right track. For more learning options for QuickBooks Online, check out the following page: How it works: Features

Have a great rest of your week!
