Question

QB receipt capture fails to get pdf receipt details

I'm struggling using the receipt capture feature.  It seems that many of my pdf receipts don't upload properly and are not recognized by QB and I need then to do a lot of manual entry to make it work.  Is this expected?  Is the OCR just really poor or am I doing something wrong?

Hi ca2devri,

Welcome to the Community. Being able to capture your pdf receipt is essential so you can get back doing what you love.  QuickBooks Online is a flexible program that simplifies the way you manage your books. I'd be glad to point you in the right direction to get the support you need regarding  pdf receipt feature.

If the pdf receipts don't upload properly, I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the app to ensure it's up to date.  This usually clears out most issues the mobile app is having. You may also try emailing the receipts, save them to a folder and upload them to the receipt feature to see if you get the same result.

If you're still having problems with the receipt function, I encourage you to contact our customer support as they can have a closer look at this. Here are some options available to reach out to our team.

  • Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right in QuickBooks Online > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
