Subcontract vs Outside Services

As a landscaping company, we provide irrigation shut down and start up to our clients, however we hire another company to complete this task. 

Some of these are billable above their monthly rate, and some are included in their overall contract. 

My question: When entering the invoices from the company that completes the work, would it make more sense to enter it as a Subcontract or Outside Service?

it's important that all your transactions be entered correctly for your book to be well balanced. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help you keep track of sales and expenses you make in order to see the profitability of your business. i can point you in the right direction for assistance with categorizing these transactions.

 

In order to know if this work that you've had done by another company would be considered a subcontract or an outside service, I recommend speaking to your accountant. they'll be able to provide you with the best assistance to make sure that this transaction is entered correctly so that your books are well represented. You can invite your accountant to your QuickBooks account so that they can view your books by navigating to the My Accountant tab. You can also find an accounting professional near you by clicking on the Find a pro to help button in that section.
