Hello jodychapman,

QuickBooks Online stores many different numbers for you, such as sales tax numbers, business numbers, and other government-provided information like that. You'll also be able to find your QuickBooks company ID number in your account to use for when you're reaching out to support or other instances you might need it. It sounds to me like this may be the number you're trying to find, so I'll point you in the right direction.

There are two ways to find your QuickBooks company ID number: through the settings or by using a shortcut. I'll show you the shortcut first.

The shortcut to bring up your company ID is CTRL + ALT + ? This brings up a window that shows the ID highlighted in yellow/orange as well as a handy guide to other shortcuts you can use in QuickBooks Online.

The long way to find the number is to take these steps.

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Account and Settings.
  3. Click the Billing & Subscription tab.
  4. Find the number displayed at the top of that tab.

Keep in mind that you won't see the Billing & Subscription tab if you're under your accountant's billing or on third-party billing like Apple or Google Play. The shortcut option should still work for you in these instances.

The Account and Settings is also home to some of the other numbers you may be looking for, such as your business number. Your sales tax number can be found in the Taxes section and the Manage sales tax button.

Since you've mentioned ordering cheques from your bank, I'd also like to highlight some important notes about printing cheques and QuickBooks Online. While the program does have alignment options that you can work with so the cheques print properly, not all cheques work with QuickBooks Online.

For confidence with ordering cheques compatible with the program, go to the Gear icon and choose Order Cheques. This takes you to a vendor website that has QuickBooks compatible cheques. The only caution I have here is to make sure that you're choosing cheques compatible with QuickBooks Online Canada as the website also has products for QuickBooks Desktop and our US counterparts.

I'll leave you with a few articles so you can learn more about cheque alignment.

Let me know if you have further questions! I'm here to help. :)
