Invoices Password Protected when Received by Client

We Issue Invoices direct from Quickbooks via a generic outlook account.

Some clients wish to edit these invoices when received (add an approval signature etc.)

A Password is required to do this.

Does anyone know how to remove this requirement? (We don't even know what password it is referring to)

When we download the invoice and send manually - there is no password requirement.

thanks

Hi richiecuddihy, thanks for joining us here on the Community

Is the client receiving the prompt to enter a password when attempting to download the PDF of the invoice to edit?

    Hi Georgia,

    so:

    A. the client is emailed the Invoice direct from Quickbooks

    B. They receive it into their inbox in PDF format and they can open it (no password needed to open the PDF invoice - this is not the issue)

    C. But If they wish to edit the Invoice PDF document on their side (to add an electronic signature/note etc), they are being prompted to then enter a password.

We don't know what this password is or how it is there - so we can't remove it.

As a work around we are having to download invoices and send them manually for those clients - when we email in this manual manner there is no prompt for a password when the client opens and edits the invoice.

    thanks

Thanks for getting back to me richiecuddihy, do you know if the client has set up any password protection on their Outlook account? There's no option to password protect invoices sent from QuickBooks, so it's likely this is set by the clients' email provider. 🙂

    Hi,

I don't think it's a client issue because when I send an invoice from quickbooks to myself and try to edit it - I am prompted as well for a password

Hi richiecuddihy The PDF's that are sent directly from us, as you and your customers have discovered, are password protected as a matter of policy and can't be edited.🙇🏻‍♂️
