Intuit to stop connection to UK and EU banks

We have received a notification in our Quickbooks online account informing us that Intuit will stop account information services with some banks as of March 30 2020.

Specifically, they refer to EU and UK banks connections, due to Payment Services regulations which date from 2017.

I would have expected that Intuit does a bigger effort to continue providing these services having specific product versions for the region (UK and France for example). I think losing this feature is a major step back for the user experience.

Quite disappointing.

    Hello raulblaya,

Thanks for joining the QuickBooks Online Community.

In line with the implementation of Open Banking and FCA guidelines, we are removing the standard connection to all banks as of March. For banks that have an open connection avaialble, a prompt will appear within QuickBooks to upgrade the existing feed to the new open connection. Some banks may not be supported or the connection could not be established in time for the regulatory deadline. Our teams have been working around the clock to ensure we could continue to enable bank connections. Unfortunately, owing to our legal obligation, we've had to make the decision to disable standard feed connections for banks that do not have an open feed. We have waited until the last possible moment to see if we could maintain a connection and minimise disruption to your business, and continue to work to deliver a new open bank feed for the banks we are currently no longer able to support, and will update users when this is available.

Thanks Georgia, I have now found a bit more info on the web and saw the new communication in our QBO account about the possibility to upgrade to Open banking as a paid feature.

One question though, I can see Santander is available but I am wondering if this is limited to Santander UK or would our Spanish Santander bank account also be successfully connected? We are a spanish company using the Quickbooks plus EU version

Thanks for looking into that and getting back to me raulblaya, the link provided in my previous post is an article that covers banks which can connect to our QuickBooks UK product, and refers to Santander UK accounts only. The EU QuickBooks account you are using is able to connect to the Santander UK open bank, but does not presently have an open bank connection to the Spanish Santander accounts - one way to check if we do support the connection to your specific account is to paste the URL of your bank into the search bar when selecting Banking > Add account.

Please help...I have contacted my Cooperative Bank account support and they inform me my account is available for open banking but you say it is not and have withdrawn my access to it. Why?

They say that you are at fault and you must sort it out as the regulated third party who wants access. I give you my permission to access my account.

Please let me know when you will resolve this for me.

    Thank you

It is extremely confusing I spent all day trying to connect to my bank in order to do the accounts. I was on live chats and forums mostly to muppets I was put through to a call back.

45 minutes later a person who could hardly even speak English called and when I asked the question do you know quickbooks he simply answered saying my name is Aswad and I'm from intuit after 5 questions I simply hung up. If you can get onto a different package do it now as QB is unworkable.

4 out of 5 of my accounts now do not automatically upload since opening banking.  Metro Bank not supported, Metro Savings Account not supported, HSBC Business Money Manager not supported, Paypal Fees no longer downloads, everything now needs to be done by CSV, very bad service on Quickbooks part!  Not happy.

I am also disappointed that the package I bought into is not working fully.

I am having to import CVS files regularly whilst the open banking issue QB has with Coop Bank is sorted.

I've been given no idea  of timescale AND no offer of a reduced fee from Intuit! This is really bad and will lose you heaps of customers. Tbh I am considering moving to another provider if it doesn't get sorted soon. The adverts make me laugh because you haven't freed up my time at all, you've made things very onerous.
